Cody Hodgson has played more than 41 NHL games. He is unable to be sent down.

Yes that is right. If the player begins as a prospect (less than 41 games) this type of movement is possible. Hodgson began as pro so he cant do this movement. Yak began as prospect so he can move up and down till he hits 150.

The idea of the prospect roster is similar to the NHL. At times players go on IR which gives the GM the option to call up a prospect, make a trade, or add an unclaimed player through waivers.
In the offseason, you can call up your prospect if you wish but by the start of next season you will need to make the roster 25 players.
